HOW TO GET RID OF WATER SPOTS ON CARS

Rain water sometimes contains contaminants that can be harmful to your car’s clear coat and paint surface, especially if you live near an industrial area. If left to sit on your vehicle, they can “etch” into the surface. Find out how to get rid of water marks on car surfaces before they become a bigger problem.

STEP 1:

  • Use a damp sponge or cloth to wet the surface where water spots are present.
  • Hard water spots on windshield can feel rough. Inspect the water spots to see if ringlets appear and if the finish feels rough. If so, there could be slight etching caused by hard water and acid rain.

STEP 2:

  • If the water spots don’t show any signs of etching, they can easily be removed with a thorough car wash using our M.A.X.-Power Car Wash, which will also help to clean away any dirt. Rinse and towel dry.
  • For hard water spots, a vinegar solution can really help. Fill a bucket with 500 ml of white distilled vinegar and 500 ml of distilled water.

STEP 3:

  • Use a sponge to apply the vinegar solution to the area where hard water spots are present. Work one section at a time, keeping the affected area wet for up to 2 minutes.
  • Rinse with water and towel dry.

Parking in a garage or carport is the best solution, but if you don’t have that option available to you, a regular car wash, about every 2 to 4 weeks, can help with preventing etching caused by hard water.
