In this article, you will learn:
These days, everyone has a schedule to keep. Between commitments to your work and home life, you probably don’t have a lot of extra time to handle a number of items on your to-do list. But, at Turtle Wax, we want to make sure car care is never one of the things you feel like you need to skip. You’ve put too much money into your car to let it fall into neglect. That’s why we’ve developed a number of products to help you take care of your car faster and easier than ever before.
With an all-in-one car polish, you can remove many of the light scratches and minor swirls that keep your car from looking its best, and, when you’re done, protect it from the elements. That’s because all-in-one polishers contain cutting agents that smooth damage to your clear coat and some form of wax sealant that leaves a layer of protection. In just one pass and as quick as a half-hour, you can remove moderately deep scratches, swirls, oxidation and paint transfer to make your paint look nearly showroom-new again. And because they have car waxes built-in, you don’t have to spend a second more protecting and shining your car.
For many cars and trucks, that title belongs to Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax. As all-in-one polishers go, it outperforms others in both of its roles to polish and protect, regardless of whether you apply it by hand or with a machine.
For starters, the innovative precision platelet technology works safely and consistently to repair damage without exposing your finish to harsh abrasives. And, because the wax component is formulated with ceramic SiO2 polymers, your finish gets a true ceramic coating for better chemical resistance, high gloss and longer-lasting water-beading action. Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax isn’t just a run-of-the-mill value product. It’s the combination of two ultra-premium, high quality products in one easy application, and the results really show it.
If you have one of those notoriously difficult colors (black, charcoal or even dark blue,) you’ve likely noticed that your car’s paint shows each and every imperfection. If so, there’s an even better all-in-one polish for you!
Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Acrylic Black Polish is the one to reach for. In addition to the same precision platelet technology for polishing and ceramic polymers for protection, this Acrylic Black Polish also includes dark pigmented carnauba wax and acrylic to fill any remaining scratches or swirls with deep color, returning your black finish to its glory days. There is no faster, easier way to make your black cars look new again – and to help keep it that way with a layer of protection.
As with any paint correction job, you should always start by thoroughly washing and drying the car. Rinse from the top down, loosening and washing away any loose soils. Using a microfiber wash mitt, scrub your entire car with a bucket of water and car wash solution. Work in 2’ x 2’ sections, starting at the roof, hood and trunk. Continue down and around the car until you finish with the rocker panels.
As you dry with a clean microfiber towel, inspect the clear coat for any tar, tree sap, bird droppings or stubborn insect residues. If you find any, use a product like Bug & Tar Remover to break up the soils without scrubbing.
Then, check for any bonded contaminants in the clear coat by placing your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and gently run your hand over the paint surface. If you feel any tiny bumps on your fingers or palm, use a clay bar and lubricant to remove all embedded materials. Starting with a clean surface like this will help the wax adhere to your clear coat better, and you’ll avoid sealing those soils under the wax.
If you’re using an orbital polisher, apply 4 dime-sized drops of polish to a medium foam cutting pad. For softer clear coat finishes, we recommend the orange cutting pad with CCS technology. For harder clear coats, we like the UroFiber 50/50 microfiber blend pad. Move the polisher across the finish of your car in a crosshatch pattern.
If you’re polishing by hand, apply 4 dime-sized drops to a foam applicator and rub into the finish in a circular overlapping motion.
Work on a single 2’ x 2’ section at a time, starting with the roof, hood and trunk, and continue down the car, finishing with the rocker panels beneath the doors. Once you have restored each section, wipe away any residual polish with a clean, folded and damp microfiber towel.
Once you’ve worked your way around the car, the finish should look spectacular. The polish will have removed all light to medium scratches and swirls, and you’ll see a brilliant shine.
