from Great stuff!! I have been using this product since I can remember. It is great on old lacquer and enamel finishes and I have never had a problem using it on clear new clear coat. It works great for a good aggressive polishing compound on old and new finishes. I have used it by hand and with a machine. You can use it on metals like steel, aluminum, brass, chrome, copper, Fiberglass, plastic and glass. Saved some expensive CD's and DVD's by using this compound to get scratches off of them. It is economical and I like it better than the expensive compounds myself. Just take your time with this product and let the compound do the work. I use this product first and follow up with the less aggressive compound. When I am done I use the bug and tar remover to get any compound off of the surface and wax surface with good old original hard shell Turtle Wax with awesome results. What ever happened to the medium rubbing compound you folks used to sell ?

from Life saver So I recently bought a new car with what looked like a lot of oxidation, I was told that a simple rubbing compound would work to restore the finish. I will be honest I was reluctant to purchase any kind of product like this because I thought the paint was already done for. I just so happened to be at the auto parts store and noticed that a jar was less than $5. i couldnt turn that deal down so i bought a jar and tried it outI could not be happier!!!!!!!! best $5 ive ever spent on a car!!! i tested out just the hood to start, and now the hood looks like i swapped in a new one!!!

The instructions say to apply and rub back and forth. Is it safe to use this product with a buffer/polishing machine?
Good question. It is safe to use, just be sure that you keep it on a very low speed and to always keep the pad moving. This product has a grit equivalence of roughly 600, so be sure you are familiar with the product before applying it with a machine.

There are auto paint splatters from another vehicle on my car paint that won't come off. I have a 2009 VW Cc. Will this damage the paint on my car? What would you suggest using? Thank-you!
I would actually suggest using something a little less abrasive to remove the paint transfer. Our Scratch & Swirl Remover should do the trick (https://www.turtlewax.com/shop/products/turtle-wax-scratch-swirl-remover-11-fl-oz). We have a "How To" page as well here: https://www.turtlewax.com/pro-tips/how-to-remove-a-paint-transfer.

I just used your heavy duty rubbing compound on a small scratch of my car. Sad to say after applying and rubbing it off, it left a discolored patch on the spot of the scratch...faded color to be exact. Is this because of the product?
This product does contain very powerful abrasives and should only be used on very heavily oxidized surfaces. We state to always test this product and any Compounds prior to use to check the grit equivalence on your vehicle. This product may have been too strong for what you trying to accomplish.

Can this product be used to clear off haze on old headlights?
We do not advise to use this product on your headlights. We suggest using our 2-in-1 Headlight Cleaner or our Headlight Restoration Kit.

Will this damage my painted-on pinstripes?
Great question!! While all of our products are clear coat safe, Rubbing Compound is our most abrasive product (roughly a grit of 600), so if you are interested in a deep cleaning or prepping your car for a Wax, we suggest leaning more towards our Premium Rubbing Compound T-415. is this product safe for clear coat
While this product is safe for your vehicle, it is intended for very heavy detailing. You don't want to start with a product that could be too abrasive, and this is the most aggressive Compound that we make. I suggest using our Premium Polishing (T417) or Premium Rubbing Compound (T415) if you are trying to remove some minor surface scratches, oxidation, swirl marks, etc.Turtle Tip: Always remember to apply a Wax after using an abrasive product on your vehicle to ensure that the painted surface is protected!
