How-To Maintain a Motorcycle
Motorcycles might be the most diverse and fiercely debated motorized activity out there. What kind of bike you like, the gear you wear, the places you go are all different for everyone. But there is one thing we can all agree on: pulling the cover off of a showroom-clean motorcycle can make us feel like it’s Christmas morning. Today, I’ll be giving you a quick look at how Turtle Wax helps make that motorcycle shine a little brighter.
Hold the water:
Don’t overdo it! Most road-going motorcycles get peppered with bugs while on the open road, covered in grease after servicing, and layered in dust while they’re not being ridden. That being said, your bike probably doesn't need the soap, sponge, and power wash after every ride. Using the new Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover is a great way to dissolve bug splatter, tree sap, and road tar from almost every surface of your bike while leaving behind a streak-free shine! Going over your entire bike with such a product also has the added benefit of alerting you to potential issues with your bike such as loose parts and oil leaks. Clean, safe, easy.
Efficiency is key:
- No matter how OCD you are and how much you love your bike to be flawlessly clean, the more time riding and less time cleaning, the better. Luckily, the good people over at Turtle Wax know this and have the perfect product to make our cleaning more efficient; it’s called ICE Spray Detailer and it’s the most versatile product in my cleaning arsenal. Its fine mist helps safely lift dust and dirt from fairings, headlights, and trim pieces while revitalizing shine and hiding swirl marks.
I do prefer ICE over all of them. Goes on easy and comes off without leaving any kind of marks. Quick and easy. I do recommend.FRITZ
Use your head:
I’m both a motorcycle and car enthusiast, so I know how good a vehicle looks with freshly applied tire wet. I liked the look so much, that as a 10-year-old boy I sprayed tire shine on my mountain bike’s tires and quickly ate pavement on the first turn out of my driveway.
It was while rolling on the ground in pain that I realized tire shine and bikes, motor or pedal powered, don't mix. So it goes without saying, keep the tire shine away from your motorcycle!
See things clearly:
We all know the inherent risks of riding bikes but since I’m not your mother I won’t list them here. But the smarter among us know that if we can reduce those risks and look good, that’s a win-win. Case in point, Turtle Wax Dash & Glass is the perfect tool for removing dust and grime from windshields, gauge clusters, and even facemasks in a single pass.
Sounds like an incredibly easy way of giving us a clear view of our bike’s vital information and the road ahead, doesn't it? I hope you guys found these tips and tricks interesting and that they help make your bike cleaning process a bit more efficient. No matter what type of bike you own, gear you wear, or road you ride, everyone enjoys that showroom-clean feeling. Ride safe, clean quick, and I’ll see you out there.
